Dion is a small village located in the valley of Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece. The area has great historical importance and offers an amazing view of the mountain. The Archaeological Park of Dion is the most important archaeological site in Olympus. In the area that includes the archaeological park of Dion, sanctuaries from the Hellenistic and Roman periods were found.
If you are a mountain lover, you will be enchanted by the impressive slopes, the lush vegetation, the picturesque wooden bridges and the great Enipeos waterfall with its crystal clear flowing water.
An authentic Macedonian village with a history dating back to the 14th century is called Litochoro and is located at the foot of Mount Olympus. In this graphic you will enjoy your meal in a local Greek tavern.
We start our journey from Thessaloniki. We will first visit the city of Dion and its famous museum, which hosts many archaeological finds. The museum consists of 3 floors and is divided into sections representing the areas where the ruins were found. From there, we will visit the picturesque village of Litochoro, at the foot of Mount Olympus, where you will stop at a traditional cafe-restaurant. We continue to Prionia, where we will discover a mountain refuge and, according to ancient Greek religion and mythology, the home of the 12 Olympian gods of the ancient Greek world.
